In-line skating in Gatineau Park

The Quebec Highway Safety Code applies to the parkway network in Gatineau Park. This regulation prohibits the use of in-line skates or roller skis on a roadway when the road is open to motor vehicles.

However, you can in-line skate or roller ski on Gatineau Park parkways when the roads are closed to motor vehicles. This is the case every weekend morning from the end of May to the end of October.

Help us protect Gatineau Park and leave no trace.

Skate During NOKIA Sunday Bikedays

On NOKIA Sunday Bikedays, you can skate on 30.5 kilometres of scenic and car-free parkways. From May 15 to September 4, 2016, the Gatineau, Champlain and Fortune Lake parkways are closed to cars and other motor vehicles from 6 am to 11 am.

The section north of Chemin du Lac-Meech is ideal for families with young children, and is closed for two additional hours, from 6 am to 1 pm.

You can also skate on some parkways in Ottawa that are closed to motor vehicles for NOKIA Sunday Bikedays.

Short Loops in the Park

Sections of the Gatineau Parkway will be closed to motor vehicles from May 28 to October 23, 2016 every Saturday morning until the end of August, and on both weekend mornings in September and October. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy 8.2 kilometres of scenic parkways in Gatineau Park that are reserved for cyclists, in-line skaters, runners and walkers.
