Papa adds colour to the Hull Island Sector
A new work of public art has been installed in the Hull Island Sector, in the linear park on des Allumettières Boulevard, at the northwest intersection of Maisonneuve Boulevard.
The project is an integral part of the recent development of Maisonneuve Boulevard and des Allumettières Boulevard, undertaken in partnership with Ville de Gatineau. The installation of the artwork and the development of the public area are aimed at making the intersection a more welcoming space and creating a visual landmark. The work was selected through a national competition, by a jury that included a member of the community. Entitled Papa, it was created by Montréal artist and architect Hal Ingberg.
“My hope is that Papa will enable residents and visitors to share a dynamic experience at both the scale of the automobile and that of the individual– a visual happening that if only momentarily, returns us to a child’s capacity for wonder”. – Hal Ingberg
